There is a definite improvement: The first pdf is correctly printed both
to a file and to a printer without a crash. The second pdf though,
although it is correctly printed both to a pdf and to a postscript file,
fails to print on a printer with the same message:

Bug description:
  Affects version 3.5.92 of evince. The version of evince shipped with
  Ubuntu 11.10 was not affected by this bug.

  Evince crashes with "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" when trying to
  print some pdf files on a duplex hp printer. The status of the printer
  at the printing dialog is "Waiting for printer to finish" but
  nevertheless other computers print to the same printer normally
