  I am unable to password protect a 7zip archive using file-roller. I
tried both right-click -> Compress as well as as from within file-
roller itself after the archive was created, Edit -> Password.
Password protecting a standard zip archive worked fine, just not 7zip.

I was able to create a password protected 7zip archive using the command
below.
  7z a archive.7z -t7z -ppassword -mhe directory
