"do you have lo-menubar package installed? If yes, could you uninstall
it and try again?"

I was surprised to see LO menubar was not installed. This was a default
12.10 install. I just let it all install and ran it raw. Thought I'd
give the global menus one last shot. You know how it is when you develop
a dislike of something, you can get a sort of preconception that you
don't like it for what turns out to be no real reason in the end?

So, 12.10 default install. Global menus definitely very squiffy, even
after logout / reboot / full update the whole nine yards. Some items
(sorry only one specific from memory - the save as - there were several
more) simply no function from the mouse. The menu 'accepted' the item -
ie disappeared - but no function occurred.

Thing is you're asking me to reinstall the only bit of unity that is
actually duff... Still I'm an even handed sort of geezer, so I'll give
it a go, but I'm going flying tomorrow, so short delay.

more important though is the .doc bug in LO... - regardless of OS
