I am experiencing a similar issue on my 12.04 Ubuntu installed on Thinkpad T420. The quicklist for home folder works only once. That is, right click shows all the options. As soon as I select any of those, it takes me to that directory. But now the quicklist is gone. Right click shows only generic options of 'open new windows', 'home folder' and 'unlock from launcher'. If I logout and login again, things start working again but for 'one time only'
I have no idea where to look for any logs. Please let me know how to generate/collect logs. Note: I have noticed that if from a terminal, I quit nautilus using 'nautilus -q' and then restart it with 'nautilus -n', quicklist start working normally.
