Hi, I downloaded the project code yesterday and compiled it, I got the same messages about Gtk warnings except:
CRITICAL **: cheese_camera_device_get_uuid: assertion `CHEESE_IS_CAMERA_DEVICE (device)' failed In fact it seems they are two totally different problems, I'm trying to discover what the GtKImage and Label warnings are and it seems a problem with parsing the cheese-main-window.ui file in the data directory. If you have a look at one of the GtkToggleButton objects inside the xml file yu can see that they all have a child of GtKImage type nested. All of them (they are three) they've got also a parameter "related-action" which is somehow causing the problem. I'm pretty new to Vala and Gtk but it seems somehow this parameter is adding a GtkLabel to the ToggleButtons when this xml file is parsed. I'm trying to find a clue but if somebody has any idea please share it. P.S. if you cheese shows these Gtk warnings u should see the three buttons under the Video display saying: "Photo", "Video", "Burst" while in a perfect condition these buttons seems supposed to have some icons, which are defines by the GthImages attempted to be added -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to cheese in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991430 Title: cheese does not start in ubuntu 12.04 Status in Cheese Camera Application: New Status in “cheese” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When starting cheese i get these messages (cheese:4098): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to a GtkToggleButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkToggleButton can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkLabel (cheese:4098): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to a GtkToggleButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkToggleButton can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkLabel (cheese:4098): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to a GtkToggleButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkToggleButton can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkLabel (cheese:4098): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to a GtkButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkButton can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkLabel (cheese:4098): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkGrid to a GtkToggleButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkToggleButton can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkLabel (cheese:4098): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to add a widget with type GtkImage to a GtkButton, but as a GtkBin subclass a GtkButton can only contain one widget at a time; it already contains a widget of type GtkLabel ** (cheese:4098): CRITICAL **: cheese_camera_device_get_uuid: assertion `CHEESE_IS_CAMERA_DEVICE (device)' failed Violación de segmento (`core' generado) irene@irene:~$ lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Host Bridge (rev 01) 00:02.0 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS480 PCI-X Root Port 00:11.0 IDE interface: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 Serial ATA Controller (rev 80) 00:12.0 IDE interface: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 Serial ATA Controller (rev 80) 00:13.0 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 USB Host Controller (rev 80) 00:13.1 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 USB Host Controller (rev 80) 00:13.2 USB controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 USB2 Host Controller (rev 80) 00:14.0 SMBus: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 SMBus Controller (rev 82) 00:14.1 IDE interface: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 IDE Controller (rev 80) 00:14.2 Audio device: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB4x0 High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) 00:14.3 ISA bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 PCI-ISA Bridge (rev 80) 00:14.4 PCI bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI IXP SB400 PCI-PCI Bridge (rev 80) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)] 01:00.1 Display controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV380 [Radeon X600] 02:03.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11) 02:03.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 11) 02:05.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
