I fully support this request.

PS
Smaller data limits of 500MB and 1 GB per month are far more prevalent even
than the more generous 10GB mentioned by Ismael. This merely adds urgency to
the request.

Title:
  Show usage data

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

There are many data-limited plans in use. It is typical that a 3g
connection has a data limit (like 10 GB per month). It would be useful
if NM would record monthly usage in every interface / network
combination so that the user is aware of how many GB they have left,
maybe even with optional features like disconnecting after the cap is
  exceeded to avoid extra charges.
