Debian has moved to im-config for two years, and im- switch has been abandoned for such a long time. There aren't, and won't get any update from Debian anymore, and we are preparing the removal of im-switch from Debian. Porting the function from im-switch to im-config won't be a pain, as im-config itself provides similar command line for setting input methods. All the work needed are about adapting current code to the new situation. Please don't waste time on fixing im-switch anymore, the more you fix it the more delta get generated, and the more it gets into a badly maintained status, IMHO.
