Public bug reported:

Affected Releases:
Description:    Ubuntu 12.04
Release:        12.04
Description:    Ubuntu 12.10
Release:        12.10

Current package version:
amarok:
  Installed: 2:2.6.0-0ubuntu2.1
phonon-backend-gstreamer:
  Installed: 4:4.7.0really4.6.2-0ubuntu1

Expected behaviour: Amarok should play files of different file formats
from playlist consecutively

Observed behaviour: Amarok seems stops playback during transtition from
a certain file format to another, but continues to play a random track
of the same format/album after some minutes

-----

Detailed description:
I have different file formats in my music library (MP3, OGG Vorbis and FLAC). I
have noticed that Amarok seems to stop playback after playing certain albums or
tracks. I found out that this behaviour is triggerd during a transtition from
one format to another. When I let Amarok continue to play, it does not stop
playback, but you cannot hear anything and the status indicators don't change,
after a few minutes it continues somewhere in the middle of the album (another
track but the same format) at which beginning the playback stopped.

I first noticed this behaviour in 12.04. I had no such issues with
10.10, which used the now deprecated xine backend.

Selected Phonon Backend: phonon-backend-gstreamer

Transition where playback stops:
Vorbis -> FLAC
FLAC -> Vorbis
FLAC (24bit/48kHz) -> FLAC (16bit/44.1kHz)
FLAC (16bit/44.1kHz) -> FLAC (24bit/48kHz)

Transition where playback continues:
MP3 -> FLAC, Vorbis
FLAC, Vorbis -> MP3

** Affects: amarok (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
