It seems that this is predominantly affecting people who like myself are trying to play Unreal Tournament.
Unfortunately switching to Audio.GenericAudioSubsystem does not resolve the problem with the openal driver, and it also introduces a new problem: any mods which use audio sampled at a rate not supported by this driver (mods I've found include Unreal4Ever, many voice packs, and some ChaosUT sound effects) will cause the game to crash horribly with an "unsupported rate: <X>". Many commonly-used sample rates are not supported, including 8000, 11025, and 48000khz. The OpenAL driver doesn't have this issue - it supports all sample rates. It also provides superior audio quality, so I for one would like to see this lag issue addressed! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/612093 Title: padsp introduces about 2 seconds of delay Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Using a OSS application (in my case libmikmod powered but not MikMod related) trough padsp command indtroduces about 2 seconds of delay.
