Hardware: i3-350m, ati radeon hd 5470 Ubuntu battery indicator cannot estimate time to charge the battery when charging. Disconnecting the battery causes it to say the battery is charged despite it is not. Turning the computer on without the adapter plugged in results in the message that it is estimating time remaining. When turning the computer on with the adapter plugged in: cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charging present rate: unknown remaining capacity: 1790 mAh present voltage: unknown cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ADP1/state state: on-line After disconnecting the adapter: cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: charged present rate: unknown remaining capacity: 1875 mAh present voltage: unknown cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ADP1/state state: off-line When turning the computer on without the adapter plugged in: cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: discharging present rate: unknown remaining capacity: 1704 mAh present voltage: unknown cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ADP1/state state: off-line After plugging the adapter in: cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state present: yes capacity state: ok charging state: discharging present rate: unknown remaining capacity: 1576 mAh present voltage: unknown cat /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/ADP1/state state: off-line cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info gives following output present: yes design capacity: 4400 mAh last full capacity: 4262 mAh battery technology: non-rechargeable design voltage: 10880 mV design capacity warning: 512 mAh design capacity low: 299 mAh cycle count: 0 capacity granularity 1: 100 mAh capacity granularity 2: 100 mAh model number: serial number: battery type: LiOn OEM info: HP It seams that acpi doesn't return the present rate of charge/discharge so the system can't estimate remaining time to charge/discharge, and the adapter doesn't change its status until reboot when connected after discharging unless the computer was booted while it was already plugged in. --- Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 GConfNonDefault: /apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/blank_screen=false /apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/use_screensaver_settings=false /apps/gnome-power-manager/notify/sleep_failed_uri= /apps/gnome-power-manager/ui/icon_policy=always GnomeSessionIdleInhibited: No GnomeSessionInhibitors: None GnomeSessionSuspendInhibited: No InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP G62 Notebook PC NonfreeKernelModules: wl Package: gnome-power-manager 2.32.0-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=UUID=a9dcf0ae-1517-4eed-ac19-4e424f3bd874 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.33-generic 2.6.35.4 Tags: maverick Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare dmi.bios.date: 06/28/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.0B dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 143A dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 60.22 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.0B:bd06/28/2010:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPG62NotebookPC:pvr049B100000052710001000000:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn143A:rvr60.22:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: HP G62 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: 049B100000052710001000000 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-power/+bug/661759/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
