If you still experience the problem, please reopen this report and follow these steps: 1. close Ubuntu Software Center, if it's open already 2. enter the command "software-center" in a Terminal window 3. try to install something to trigger the hang 4. when it hangs, in the Terminal, press Ctrl C 5. copy any output from the Terminal window, and paste it into this bug report. I am on Ubuntu 10.10. It asks me to insert a password to validate, which I do, and then it closes out the password box and hangs with the validate screen open. Reboot hasn't fixed the problem. Can't install any software as of now, even via terminal either, as the software-center process seems to still be active.
