Title:
  network manager applet cannot be invoked when clicking on it's icon on
  the top panel

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

  1. 
  when I click on network icon on top panel , a drop down menu appears.
  Clicking on any item there ( about / edit connections etc) does nothing, no 
window appears ..

  Also, is there any reason why nm-applet takes over 500 MB of memory?
