FYI. A way to access [Gmail]/Trash from Thunderbird again to copy/move mails to [Gmail]/Trash, after unsubscribing [Gmail]/Trash in order to use "other than [Gmail/Trash" as trash of "move to trash" model. (A) Change to "Just mark it as deleted", subscribe [Gmail]/Trash, copy/move mails to [Gmail]/Trash, unsubscribe [Gmail]/Trash, go back to "Move to trash" model. (B) Create two same Gmail IMAP accounts in a Tb with different server name, (i) with hostname/realhostname = imap.googlemail.com (auto-config only) (ii) with hostname/realhostname = imap.gmail.com (auto-config with Manual Setup) and set different options. However, regardless of setting, the item always moved to Trash. This persisted after restart of the client. The settings save, but have no effect. Caveat: This was tested on two Google Apps for Domains accounts, though I suspect this behavior will happen with gmail.com accounts as well.
