Title:
  Remote desktop interferes with relogin

Status in “rdesktop” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Remote desktop seems to be interfering with the login process.
Several users are reporting this problem on the forums. Visit
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=691561 for details.

  Steps to reproduce.
Open remote desktop (or check remote desktop preferences to see if remote
login is enabled.)
Logout out of gnome, try to log in again.
Credentials are accepted and you reach a brown screen with a working mouse.
(no click responses though since there is nothing else)
Break out of X with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace and try again. Same thing happens.
(If you have KDE/Xfce and try to login, these work fine, so this is a
gnome-centered thing)
Break out of X and restart the computer (Or press F13 if you have that key)
  Try to login. Success!!!
  Lougout and login again. FAILURE.

  relevant part of ~/.xsession-errors:

Gtk-WARNING **: This process is currently running setuid or setgid.
This is not a supported use of GTK+. You must create a helper
program instead. For further details, see:

      http://www.gtk.org/setuid.html

  Refusing to initialize GTK+.

  [Temporary] Fix
  Log into Gnome.
  Navigate to System->Preferences->Remote Desktop
Untick the "allow remote login" check box. (This disables remote-desktop)
Log out of Gnome. Login again. SUCCESS!!!

The problem must then be related to rdesktop.
