When I tried to execute your command chromium was using >100% CPU and
was unresponsive. It seems that Chromium consumes a lot of CPU too.

But even with no Application running other than Gnome-Terminal Xorg
takes up to 10% CPU when I move my mouse.

Now while I'm writing this chromium is running fine but sometimes it
just slows everything down. And my systems is very slow even with
chromium closed.

Title:
After updates xorg consumes a lot of CPU when doing anything

Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I did a fresh install of 12.04 a couple of moth ago. Everything worked
fine. I did the usual update via update-manager 2 days or so ago, were
xorg packages were updated. Now when I do _anything_ xorg consumes
between 40% and 60% CPU and the whole system is very slow and laggy.
This happened after the reboot I did after updating. Maybe theres a
  connection?

I'm using 12.04 with Gnome3. This is my graphiccontroller:

00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and
945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)

  It's a Dell Laptop.
