Those logs show that 1920x1080 is the initial mode set on both the VGA1 and HDMI1 outputs which is what is reported by the EDID. So can you elaborate on what exactly the problem is?

Now I cannot run a display resolution over 1280 x 1024 at 5:3 (it thinks my 23 inch monitor is a Laptop screen). I have checked for drivers and it finds none. MyUnity will not let me adjust the size of my launcher or icons which are both comparable to a resolution of 800 x 600. Also potentially unrelated, but occured after update my clock time zone says New York (proper zone) but it is reading 2:13 AM and I am reporting this at 9:13 PM. The whole experience is a head scratcher for me. --- .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu17.1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: None CurrentDmesg: [ 16.856506] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready [ 18.626856] usblp0: removed [ 18.634845] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 3 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04B8 pid 0x0856 [ 27.558311] eth0: no IPv6 routers present DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0102] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:04ed] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120328) MachineType: Dell Inc.
