Those logs show that 1920x1080 is the initial mode set on both the VGA1
and HDMI1 outputs which is what is reported by the EDID. So can you
elaborate on what exactly the problem is?

Title:
Intel graphics run only in 2D after 3.2.38 kernel update in 12.04

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Description: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
  Release: 12.04
I updated my Dell Inspiron 620 to the Kernel Linux 3.2.0-38-generic running
GNOME 3.4.2. Now I cannot run a display resolution over 1280 x 1024 at 5:3 (it
thinks my 23 inch monitor is a Laptop screen). I have checked for drivers and
it finds none. MyUnity will not let me adjust the size of my launcher or icons
which are both comparable to a resolution of 800 x 600.

Also potentially unrelated, but occured after update my clock time zone says
New York (proper zone) but it is reading 2:13 AM and I am reporting this at
9:13 PM.
The whole experience is a head scratcher for me.
