What I did was install raring amd64 iso with defaults as it is in daily build. I didn't do any changes, just installed, booted, then brought up displays to set the correct resolution for the monitor which is 1600x900, wide, with all text running horizontal wide.
raring i386 iso install is fine. I'll take a look at why the default daily build may be setting rotation differently than it used to. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll try them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1160521 Title: Selected 1600x900 gets 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: raring amd64 displays 1600x900 as 900x1600 rotated 90 degrees, laying on its side. It's a bear running the mouse sideways. raring i386 displays 1600x900 fine. How do I get normal rotation? 800x600 displays with normal rotation but not 1600x900 or 1440x900.
