Can you please follow the instructions of the sections "CUPS error_log",
"Capturing print job data", and "Getting the data which would go to the
printer" on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems.

Is the result of "Capturing print job data" correctly displayed by
evince? Does "lpr prinbtout" print it correctly?

What format is the result of "Getting the data which would go to the
printer"? You can find it out running the command "file printout". If it
is PostScript or PDF, can you display it with evince? Can you print it
with "lpr -oraw printout"? If it is PostScript or PDF, please also
follow the instructions of the section "PostScript (PDF) printer chokes
on the PostScript (PDF) coming from Ubuntu" on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems.

Please do not package or compress any attachments, please attch them one
by one. This makes it much easier for the reader to have a look into
them.

Title:
Printing LibreOffice document to Brother HL-3070CW results in error
  message or distored image

Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  LibreOffice document a.odt attached
LibreOffice pdf printout document a.pdf, which is normal, attached
Printer throws out empty page followed by another page with the following
text:

  ERROR:
  undefined
  OFFENDING COMMAND:
  NP&J!JV$´*".9r"$m
  STACK:
  -mark-
  -mark-
  -mark-

Note: that I simplified an original document that also had an error --
when printed it included this same photo, but the width was badly
stretched horizontally and at an angle and had a visible white rip
within it toward the left side. I was able to simplify it this file
and was still able to produce this and have included it here as well.

  LibreOffice document b.odt attached
LibreOffice pdf printout document b.pdf, which is normal, attached
Printer prints document almost correctly, however, the image as mentioned
above is warped. I can scan this output and add it if so requested.

I am not submitting a separate report for this case as it seems clear
to me that these cases are closely related.

  lsb_release -rd output:
  Description: Ubuntu 12.10
  Release: 12.10

  System is up-to-date

  Cheers, Robert
