Happens to me in a freshly installed Xubuntu 13.04 with Pidgin installed
straight from the repos.

  Pidgin doesn't show online facebook contacts

Bug description:
  I use the xmpp facebook connection for years but a few days ago it
  stopped working. I have no idea what could provoke this, but Pidgin
  shows every accounts are connected I am online but there not seems to
  be online facebook friends.  They are listed as offline contacts.
