I have the same problem on an eeePC 1215N, Ubuntu 13.04 32 bits. I found a workaround to get maximum brightness back: sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 f4.b=ff
It resets the maximum brightness to maximum. If it does not work for you, try another PCI device (find the adress with lspci), like sudo setpci -s 00:02.1 f4.b=ff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/958389 Title: brightness not work correctly on eee pc Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: if windose 7 to maximum brightness. then reboot then everything is OK. You can set maximum brightness. If after reboot of Ubuntu in Ubntu. then the level of intensity that was at a minimum - is maximized. and the brightness decreases from this level. ie if you set it on the low level to discern that what is at all unrealistic.
