Title:
Windows disappear unexpectedly when switching application

Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When working with some applications, after you switch between
application the window of the firt application disappears and can't be
reached again, although through ps command you can see that the
  application is still running.

  For example:
1.- Open DIA in Ubuntu 12.04 under Unity 3D
2.- Change window (go to Firefox, for example)
3.- Try to switch again to DIA (you can't)
4.- ps -elaf | grep dia (you'll see the application is still running)

This have happened with many applications, as DIA, pgAdminIII,
