Well, I rally tried to identify the cause of this problem but with no
success. There isn't a pattern. Anyway, I'm almost sure that is the
video driver because of the following: one thing I forgot to mention is
that, as a workaround, when the system is lagging I press the "Super"
button to open the dash and the system stop lagging. It seems that it is
a composite/driver/3D issue. Using other desktop environment like
Enlightenment (with composite enabled) does the same lagging - so it is
not related with unity.

About the command you said, could you explain me more about?
