  VLC audio stops playing after a while (although video progresses)

Status in “libav” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  When playing video files, the audio stops randomly while the video
  progresses. The only resolution is to stop VLC and restart the video
  from the same location.

  This issue has been appearing since I updated libav on this machine.
  The files have been checked using different platforms.
