Robert, Not normally using the sysvinit file, but I rebooted and got no
greeter at all and went about trying to find out why and noticed this.
I have a greeter by editing this script, and will learn later if
something else I did makes it return.

  $ ls -l /usr/bin/lightdm
  ls: cannot access /usr/bin/lightdm: No such file or directory
