Can anybody tell me why on earth, when I search for the package "nm- applet", a result appears called "nm-applet" which I can actually click and select, but then the report is rejected with an error that says the package "nm-applet" does not exist????

Observed behavior (since 13.04) - shows a "connecting" animation while it is establishing the connection - then the animation stops and it shows again the "disconnected" icon, for a short but very noticeable fraction of a second* - only then the icon is replaced by the "connected" icon. *This is very annoying because it's enough time to actually think "oh shit, connection has failed, let's try again", and if you are fast enough and forget to wait an additional fraction of a second, you may actually have time to click again on the network and reconnect unnecessarily (it has happened to me a couple of times).
