The issue here is that compiz prefers pageflips (quite rightly for igfx)
which for udl means that we need to push the entire display over the
slow usb link (and requiring a slow readback) on each update (instead of
just the damaged region) -- a write magnification issue.

Bug description:
  Hello,

When I connect the diaplay link (DVI) and I activate the screen in
xRandr, the graphic performance slow down, the mouse movement are
jerky and the mouse cursor blink on all screen, when I move a window,
  is also not fluid.

When I desactivate the screen in xRandr, but I keep the displaylink
  connected, everything work fine.

I also tried to take all graphic effect and desktop in compiz setup,
  stay the same.

I'm running Ubuntu 13.04 64 bits and the Kernel
  3.11.0-031100rc5-generic I tried also with Kernel 3.10 and 3.9.

My Graphic card is a Intel.
