Confirmed on 13.04. gnome-disks is pretty much unusable, can't even
format a USB flash drive. gparted has no issues doing so.

Title:
gnome-disks fails to work with filesystems

Status in “gnome-disk-utility” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
gnome-disks fails to delete, add, modify, format partitions or to rewrite
partition table on an esternal drive.

in my case, after a dd command to copy a hybrid iso, I can't modify my
usb stick filesystem layout because of gnome-disks crashing during
  operation with (udisks-error-quark, 0) message

  gparted works as expected.

I remember that it didn't work in precise pangolin too.
On previous versions it destroyed 2 or 3 times my hd mbr after a simple
removal of a partition.
It looks like an incredibly buggy and extrimely dangerous piece of software..

It could be because we have udsisk and udisk2 installed in parallel.
