At the same time /var/log/cups/error_log started to fill with the following warning: E [13/Jul/2013:14:28:13 +0200] [cups-deviced] PID 2778 (dnssd) stopped with status 1! E [13/Jul/2013:14:28:40 +0200] [cups-driverd] Bad driver information file "/usr/share/cups/drv/cupsfilters.drv"! moving the file away stopped the warnings and returned my printer to a working order again. Will attach the file to this bug report: Didn't find it in apt-cache so I assume it might be a remains from an old version of an package.
