Public bug reported: This is a recent bug, all worked perfectly until the last week or so.
I have USB-powered speakers (Altec Lansing XT1) which prior to suspending work fine. I can unplug them and plug them back in and they still appear as an option in Sound Settings... Following suspending and resuming, they no longer appear in Sound Settings... even if they are unplugged before suspending and plugged back in following resuming. Logging out and back in does not solve the issue, and, so far, the only way of getting the speakers to work is to reboot. What I expect to happen: the speakers to appear in Sound Settings... and to be able to play audio through them. This was the previous behaviour. What actually happens: following resuming from suspend, I cannot select my USB speakers through Sound Settings... despite the light on the speakers switching on. I have to reboot my computer before I can select them in the Sound Settings... menu once again. lsb_release: Ubuntu 12.10 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu3.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-41.64-generic 3.5.7.21 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-41-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu12 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USER PID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: andrew 6084 F.... pulseaudio Date: Thu Oct 17 19:52:52 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-11-25 (326 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal Quetzal" - Release amd64 (20121017.5) MarkForUpload: True PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver Symptom: audio Title: USB sound card not detected UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 08/24/2012 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: P02ABE dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: NP350V5C-A0AUK dmi.board.vendor: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. dmi.board.version: BOARD REVISION 00 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 9 dmi.chassis.vendor: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. dmi.chassis.version: 0.1 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvrP02ABE:bd08/24/2012:svnSAMSUNGELECTRONICSCO.,LTD.:pn350V5C/350V5X/350V4C/350V4X/351V5C/351V5X/351V4C/351V4X/3540VC/3540VX/3440VC/3440VX:pvrP02ABE.005.CP:rvnSAMSUNGELECTRONICSCO.,LTD.:rnNP350V5C-A0AUK:rvrBOARDREVISION00:cvnSAMSUNGELECTRONICSCO.,LTD.:ct9:cvr0.1: dmi.product.name: 350V5C/350V5X/350V4C/350V4X/351V5C/351V5X/351V4C/351V4X/3540VC/3540VX/3440VC/3440VX dmi.product.version: P02ABE.005.CP dmi.sys.vendor: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. ** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug quantal running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241150 Title: USB sound card not detected following suspend Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This is a recent bug, all worked perfectly until the last week or so.
