Not always. No idea what triggers it.

Above should answer this: so I can't repro it intentionally and last
time(s) it occurred I didn't happen to test this. My post was confusing;
it was supposed to mean that if what I'm getting is the same bug at all.
Bugs 492598 and 1040591 sound more like it.

I also saw a similar sounding bug related to CIF filesystems
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/995847), but
mine are just ext4.

  Nautilus doesn't refresh window afrer creation a folder

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Every time when I create a folder, Nautilus doesn't show it.
  It shows new folders only after ferfesh of the window (for example, if I 
press F5 button).

  I've never seen such behaviour in previous versions of Ubuntu. 
  Please, help with that nasty trouble.
