  no sound from laptop

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I have a dell inspiron 1525 running Ubuntu 13.10. I have no sound
  coming from either the speakers or headphone jack, no sound indicator
  in the top right, and play back of spotify, youtube etc is not
  working.

  I have a printout of the codecs and an extract for my audio from the
  lspci command

  I would have thought there would be a sigmatel stac 9205 codec as this
  is what I find in the bios settings of the laptop.
