I tested it. I used the same KVM, but different computer and with 14.04 daily build (without upgrades) there was not problem although the problem has been arounf for last few Ubuntu releases.

As a work-around, I can click on System Settings and then click on Displays, and the screen immediate flickers and then resets back to 1920 x 1080, without the need for me to do anything else. This is most annoying, and it was not seen in previous versions of Ubuntu. All I would like is the ability to lock the screen resolution so it doesn't change on me automatically when I am using my KVM and am 'away' for extended periods.
