Daniel Voicu, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Mouse cursor jumps and clicks randomly

Status in “xserver-xorg-input-evdev” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and from time to time my cursor
jumps erratically, clicking and opening stuff. I tried disabling
desktop effects, thinking that it might be related to compiz. I have
to mention that this happens on a desktop computer, not on a laptop. I
am using an optical mouse that works fine on Windows XP. I only have
  this issue on Ubuntu 10.10.

I've noticed that pressing ESC or Ctrl will stop the cursor from jumping for
awhile but it starts again after a few seconds.
