New test feedback: as the nvidia driver was not usable previously, i was using 'nouveau' . So i've tried to use nvidia again after the latest upgrades from 'main' archive: - there has been some transitioning hardtime, witch have needed to use 'recovery' mode and also reboot - but now with kernel 3.13.0.8 and nvidia 331-38, X is working as expected (at last, seen a lot of users complaints also across forums)
That said, i cant tell if the reported issue still need to be investigated, or simply marked this bug as 'fixed' -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-331 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254994 Title: [kernel 3.13 rc1] could not find /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-331/331.20/build /.nv-kernel.o.cmd for /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-331/331.20/build/nv- kernel.o Status in The Linux Kernel: New Status in “nvidia-graphics-drivers-331” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Installing the newest 3.13 kernel (from Canonical kernel team) on Trusty i386 seems to build well with nvidia-331 driver at first glance. But then X fails to start. It has been reported here: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/644906/linux/331-20-on-3-13-rc1-kernel/ and a workaround is also proposed: /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-331/331.20/source$ sudo gedit nv-acpi.c (comment out line 303 -> 311).
