I ran out of time so I couldn't test it myself which I'd have liked to do (either with your method or the one mentioned in the upstream bug), but it's now build at ppa:timo-jyrinki/ppa (https://launchpad.net/~timo- jyrinki/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/3912057/+listing-archive-extra).
