Public bug reported:

This is likely related to #1184451. Filing bug per Christopher's request
in there, so that you can see my hardware.

Periodically (2-3 times a day) gnome will partially lock up. I can still
move the mouse around, but clicks are not registered. Sound continues
playing. I can't alt-tab. I believe ctrl alt f2 does not work, but I
need to verify that next time around.

Pressing ctrl alt backspace starts to restart X (windows & decorations
are wiped, but the frames are still visible; sound cuts out; the mouse
cursor is no longer visible) but then the PC hard lock. Ctrl alt
backspace works usually.

I'm going to change to the proprietary nvidia drivers per suggestions in
#1184451. Hopefully that'll do the trick.
