I tihink, I've got the same problem.

Was running Kubuntu 14.04 as of 19th March 2014 and everything worked perfectly.
I then installed audacity to record something but it would only show the Splash
screen and hang there.

After that every program trying to access the soundcard would hang. Even
after several reboots. KDE then said "Sound Device unavailable,
switching to Default". And the taskmanager would show 4 processes of
pulseaudio 2 of which were always "active on harddrive".

Tried it with Xubuntu as well. Same Problem even without audacity
installed.

I've got a HP Elitebook 850 G1 with Intel / AMD hybrid graphics running with
Dynamic dGPU poweroff by default.
Could the dynamic switching be the problem?

Best regards!
