Title:
HDA Intel cards with "Digital" capture mixers default to a very low
  volume

Status in The Somerville Project:
  Fix Released
Status in “alsa-utils” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Dell laptops with HDA Intel based cards may provide a capture mixer
entitled "Digital". On Dell machines this is typically tied to an
integrated webcam. Currently, there is no init script policy in place
to adjust/set the volume by default. The first time they are booted,
the digital capture mixer is consequently set to 50%.
