There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. Even if org.gnome.rhytmbox.rhythmdb was set to empty by manual using gsettings, the default directories are added automatically. Why doesn't it add $HOME/Music or something instead of $HOME? Everytime Rhythmbox scans whole my directories and it causes serious performance fall. What's worse is that when I changed the "Libray Location" while Rhythmbox was scanning $HOME, it crashed. I've just switched to Banshee again.
