Title:
  14.04 file handles not released

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
This may not be a firefox bug, but it was the program run immediately
before this happened. A system boot clears the problem.

  Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
  Release: 14.04
  firefox:
    Installed: 28.0+build2-0ubuntu2
    Candidate: 28.0+build2-0ubuntu2
    Version table:
   *** 28.0+build2-0ubuntu2 0
          500 http://ubuntu-archives.mirror.nexicom.net/ trusty/main amd64
Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

After closing my firefox session, I called up my script for SimCity 4
Deluxe and the wine console reported this:

err:winediag:FILE_CreateFile Too many open files, ulimit -n probably
  needs to be increased

  The ulimit shell command returns:

  john@john-12-10:~$ ulimit
  unlimited

There is either something wrong with the firefox wrapup routine or the
system is not releasing file handles promptly nor properly.

I expected my application to run. It has run earlier today before the
firefox session, and will run after a system boot. In any case, it is
most annoying that the system is crippled after a run in the browser.
