Last two apt-get upgrades I did before the problem occured:
The following packages have been kept back:
  chromium-browser chromium-browser-l10n linux-generic linux-headers-generic
linux-image-generic
  linux-tools-generic
The following packages will be upgraded:
  chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra cups cups-bsd cups-client cups-common
cups-daemon cups-ppdc cups-server-common
  libcups2 libcups2:i386 libcupscgi1 libcupsimage2 libcupsimage2:i386
libcupsmime1 libcupsppdc1 linux
  linux-image linux-libc-dev linux-source linux-source-3.11.0 linux-tools
linux-tools-common

The following NEW packages will be installed
  linux-headers-3.11.0-20 linux-headers-3.11.0-20-generic
linux-image-3.11.0-20-generic
  linux-image-extra-3.11.0-20-generic linux-tools-3.11.0-20
linux-tools-3.11.0-20-generic
The following packages will be upgraded:
  chromium-browser chromium-browser-l10n linux-generic linux-headers-generic
linux-image-generic
  linux-tools-generic

Today, I didn't lock the screen and put the computer into sleep mode
when I went to bed. So some 10 minutes after the last action, the screen
would lock as usual, presenting the blueish unlock prompt (simple
locker).

This time, however, when I returned, a gray lock screen with Debian logo
was presented. I was able to unlock it, and after a fraction of a
second, the screen was locked again. This can be repeated for arbitrary
amounts of logins, it will never unlock completely. Ctrl+Alt+L for
manual locking was also not possible. One can see the desktop running
behind normally for this short amount of time, but of course take no
actions. From a different user and graphical session, I tried disabling
the lock at all, but this doesn't seem to work for gnome-screensaver at
all. Or maybe not for the current session, but that's not helpful for
this acute problem as well.

I was able to find and kill a suspicious gnome-screensaver from a shell
session, after that the main session is completely unlocked. Manually
locking now brings the old simple locker back up. Everything seems fine.

Questions:
1) Where the heck did gnome-screensaver on a KDE system come from? I never
configured that. And after killing it once, it's gone.
2) Even if it got installed and configured by one of the latest updates (I
don't see that from the packages shown above), gnome-screensaver has a re-lock
loop on KDE. Major bug?
