Public bug reported: On our system, cups-browsed works great for discovering the printing queues from our print server (it correctly updates the local /etc/cups/printers.conf). In contrast, it does not discover the classes defined on the server: The local /etc/cups/classes.conf is never updated. Since I could not find an option to configure this behavior, I suspect that this is a bug and cups-browsed disrespects class definitions.
