Just upgraded thunderbird on home desktop with ubuntu 12.04 x86-64 lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS Release: 12.04 and get Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent using SMTP server ms.belkam.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator. All I can see on mail server (Ubuntu 12.04 , postfix) is postfix/smtpd[23084]: lost connection after STARTTLS from unknown[192.168.43.38] Downgrading thunderbird to 11.0.1+build1-0ubuntu2 solves problem , but it have to be fixed..
