Bug description:
After installing updates, I've rebooted my computer, and after
rebooting the resolution on the monitor was wrong (too low) and after
entering my password, the unity desktop would never appear.
I switch to the console mode (ctrl+alt+f1), and ran:
[some dpkg commands to see what packages are installed]
sudo apt-get install nvidia-331
[this failed]
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo reboot
The screen was wrong again, even worse (even lower resolution).
I switched to the console again and ran:
sudo apt-get install nvidia-331
[this succeeded now]
sudo modprobe nvidia
sudo service lightdm restart
The login screen appeared in the correct resolution.
