Further, clicking an https:// link will cause Thunderbird to go into a state where it uses around 12% of the CPU (on my system) and starts touching the hard drive every 1/2 second. Once in this state, Thunderbird will not close properly, and must be killed with kill -15 after the GUI has been closed.
The Error Console shows no errors, warnings, or messages for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1371943 Title: https links don't click Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: http:// links work fine from Thunderbird (opening in Firefox), but https:// links will not. Use case: 1. Click an https:// link in a received message 1a: observe that nothing happens Expected behavior: 1. Click an https:// link in a received message 1a: The link should open in Firefox Again, regular, unencrypted http:// links work fine. In Preferences, under Attachments, in the Incoming tab, there is an entry for http:// but not for https:// in the list of "attachment" types. There is no way to add anything to this list. Thanks!
