Bug description:
  I'm running a new installation of Hardy on a Toshiba Tecra A10 which
  happens to contain an Intel Cantiga graphics controller. After
  rebooting, the gdm appears as a bright white screen some vertical
  lines. The running kernel is:

  i686 GNU/Linux
