Public bug reported: When a filesystem is securely unmounted/ejected in `nautilus` all its other filesystems unmounted as well and the device disappears from the list, making it necessary to disconnect and reconnect the device or it is simply unmounted and the device stays in the list of external device, making it possible to mount the filesystem again.
Both behaviors are useful. The former allows quick/"one click" removal of a device no matter how many filesystems are on the device. The latter avoids annoying necessity to reconnect the unmounted the devices in order to be recognized. Therefore a setting for each filesystem should be provided allowing one of the following behaviors: * unmount all filesystems of the device when one is unmounted * unmount the filesystem * specify a list of filesystems which ought to be unmounted when the filesystem is unmounted There should be an extra function (button or menu entry) which allows to recreate the list of device in order to avoid having them un- und replugged again. experienced with 3.10.1 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu15 Uname: Linux 3.17.4-031704-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zcommon znvpair zavl ApportVersion: 2.14.7-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sat Dec 6 05:22:45 2014 GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.list-view' b'default-column-order' b"['name', 'size', 'type', 'date_modified', 'date_accessed', 'owner', 'group', 'permissions', 'mime_type', 'where']" SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug utopic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1399863 Title: prevent disappearance of other filesystems of the same device when removed safely/ejected Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When a filesystem is securely unmounted/ejected in `nautilus` all its other filesystems unmounted as well and the device disappears from the list, making it necessary to disconnect and reconnect the device or it is simply unmounted and the device stays in the list of external device, making it possible to mount the filesystem again.
