Well it keeps on randomly changing, and this means that I might be writing an email and I am putting in an at symbol, and I put in the at symbol using the key on my keyboard with the at symbol picture on it. And my keyboard layout is set so that pressing that key will give me that at symbol. But 5 minutes later the keyboard layout may have changed to US (from UK) and when I press the key which should give me that at symbol, I get a double-quote. And sometimes it will change back, and sometimes it won't for a few hours. Sometimes it is after a restart, sometimes not.
And it is not just the at symbol changing to the double-quote symbol, but it is true for every key that changes with the new keyboard layout. And in the menu for changing languages it still shows "English (UK)" so I cannot even manually change it back. This is just something which is really annoying. And it becomes impossible to touch-type because I don't know which symbol key will give me which symbol. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405118 Title: Keyboard layout changes randomly for no reason Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This problem has occurred ever since I installed Ubuntu on this machine, I installed 14.04, and even though I have upgraded to 14.10, the problem still persists. Even though I have gone into the Text entry settings, and deleted "English (US)" from their. It will still at random times change from what I want it to be "English (UK)", to "English (US)" keyboard layout. And when this has happened I have looked in the settings to see which of the keyboard layouts is selected, and even though it is clear that it has somehow changed to "English (US)", it still says it is "English (UK)".
