Public bug reported:

With the current (on utopic) sane-backends, the Epson perfection 1260
scanner cannot be used.

Invoking xsane causes sane to recognize that the scanner is attached. However
when the scanner is selected, sane hangs forever
and cannot even get the scanner configurable parameters to display.

The scanner works fine with the newer sane-backends 1.0.25+git150121
(available in a PPA).

Please, forward port the fix.
