See attached screenshot, with the network applet showing many items
while `iwlist scan` only shows a single network.

Title:
[vivid] KDE network applet shows unavailable networks under "Available
  Connections"

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When starting the computer from sleep, the Networks applet shows a lot
of networks that were available before the computer went to sleep.

Requesting a re-scan does not reset the list, only turning wireless
off and on again using the wireless checkbox or flight mode resets the
  list
